🧩 How to Add a Subdomain or Redirect

Creating subdomains and redirects allows you to organize your website or direct visitors to other pages or external URLs easily. For example, you might create blog.yourdomain.com for your blog, or redirect oldpage.html to a new page after a redesign.

Here’s how to manage both subdomains and redirects through your TK Internet Marketing hosting account.

🔐 Step 1: Log In to Your Client Area

  1. Visit https://clients.tkinternetmarketing.com/clientarea.php.

  2. Log in with your email address and password.

  3. Go to Services → My Services → View Details for your hosting plan.

  4. Click Login to cPanel — this opens your website’s hosting dashboard.

🌐 Step 2: How to Add a Subdomain

Subdomains create separate sections of your website (e.g., shop.yourdomain.com or support.yourdomain.com).

  1. Inside cPanel, scroll down to the Domains section.

  2. Click Subdomains.

  3. Under Create a Subdomain:

    • Subdomain: Enter the name (e.g., “blog”).

    • Domain: Choose the main domain from the dropdown.

    • Document Root: Leave the default or specify a folder (e.g., /public_html/blog).

  4. Click Create.

Your subdomain will be ready in a few minutes and can host its own site or redirect elsewhere.

💡 If your domain uses external DNS, you may also need to add a CNAME or A Record for your subdomain — our support team can assist.

🔁 Step 3: How to Create a Redirect

Redirects send visitors from one page or domain to another — useful after a redesign, domain change, or URL structure update.

  1. In cPanel, scroll to the Domains section again.

  2. Click Redirects.

  3. Under Add Redirect:

    • Type: Choose Permanent (301) for long-term, or Temporary (302) for short-term.

    • https?://(www.)? — Choose the domain or subdomain to redirect from.

    • Redirects to: Enter the full destination URL (e.g., https://newsite.com/page).

    • (Optional) Select Redirect with or without www or Wild Card Redirect if you want to redirect all files in a directory.

  4. Click Add to save.

⚠️ Be careful not to create redirect loops (redirecting a URL to itself or back and forth).

🧮 Step 4: Test Your Subdomain or Redirect

  • Visit the new subdomain or redirected page in your browser.

  • If the redirect doesn’t work immediately, clear your browser cache or check your DNS propagation.

  • Use https://redirect-checker.org to confirm your redirect type (301 or 302) is functioning correctly.

🧱 Step 5: Edit or Remove a Redirect or Subdomain

  • To edit or delete a subdomain, return to cPanel → Subdomains and click Remove or Manage Redirection.

  • To remove a redirect, go to cPanel → Redirects, find it under “Current Redirects,” and click Delete.
